Goodbye

Up on the hill again,
sand at their feet,
the falling sun in their eyes

Orange was never brighter,
purple was never deeper,
the explosion was never louder

Their whispers nor their smiles
could have been softer
as they watched the fall

She held tighter
so he held on
to not let go

But he did
let go,
just as the sun hit the hills

Then just him and
sand between his fingers
watched the light flicker and fall

He walked from the hill
with the moon in his eyes
and sand trailing from his hands
